Influence of Root Canal Fillings on Alveolar Bone Crest Level—An Observational Cross Sectional CBCT Analysis

چکیده

The aim of this study was to compare the alveolar bone crest (ABC) level root canal filled (RCF) teeth without apical periodontitis with corresponding non-filled in same individual using three-dimensionally cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) data. Two hundred and thirty-five matching pairs RCF were selected from a pool 580 random CBCT-images (voxel size 160–200 µm). Teeth periodontitis, perio-endodontic lesions or surgical endodontic treatment excluded. distance between cemento–enamel-junction (CEJ) ABC assessed centrally mesial, distal, palatal/lingual buccal at each tooth (∑1880 measuring points) standardized manner. Topographic, gender, age-related relationships also noted. Data analyzed Kruskal–Wallis-test. ABC-level (2.64 ± 1.25 mm) (2.61 1.16 did not differ significantly (p > 0.05). No differences concerning localization (maxilla/mandible, type) gender 0.05) occurred. Overall, maxilla (2.74 1.48 lower < 0.001) compared mandibular (2.50 1.41 mm). Patients >41 years had ABC-levels than younger patients Men showed reduced women In conclusion, are identical their non-RCF counterparts, least terms crestal level, regardless location type patient. Thus, is an essential pillar for long-term preservation.

Visibility of the mandibular canal on CBCT cross-sectional images

UNLABELLED The identification of the mandibular canal (MC) is an important prerequisite for surgical procedures involving the posterior mandible. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) represents an advance in imaging technology, but distinguishing the MC from surrounding structures may remain a delicate task. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to assess the visibility of the MC in different ...

Radiographic analysis of root canal fillings: influence of two sealers on the perception of voids.

The aim of this ex vivo was to investigate if two radiopaque root canal sealers with different formulations would influence the radiographic perception of root canal fillings. The root canals of 48 extracted maxillary canines were prepared and randomly assigned to 3 groups of 16 specimens each. In each group, the root canals were filled by lateral condensation of gutta-percha and one of the tes...

Prevalence of apical periodontitis and quality of root canal fillings in population of Zagreb, Croatia: a cross-sectional study

AIM To determine the prevalence of apical periodontitis and assess the quality of endodontic fillings in the population of the city of Zagreb, Croatia. METHODS A total of 1462 orthopantomograms from new patients at 6 different dental practices was analyzed during 2006 and 2007. The presence of periapical lesions was determined by using the periapical index score (PAI). The quality of endodont...

Influence of Head Position on the CBCT Accuracy in Assessment of the Proximity of the Root Apices to the Inferior Alveolar Canal

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The most important risk factor for inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) damage is the proximity of the mandibular root apices to the alveolar canal. Failure to position the patient's head at standardized orientation during cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans might adversely affect the relative position of the alveolar canal and mandibular root apices with subsequent tre...
